TKO for Manny Pacquiao: Filipino Fighter Defeats De La Hoya

(U.S. ASIAN WIRE)— Eight rounds ended in a TKO for Manny Pacquiao tonight in Las Vegas as he triumphed over the heavily favored Oscar De La Hoya. Pacquiao was ahead on judges' scorecards, with two judges scoring the fight at 80-71 and one posting it at 79-72. Pacquiao's stats now improve to 48-3-2, with 36 knockouts while De La Hoya falls to 39-6.

Manny Pacquiao is the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win four world titles in different weight divisions. He took over as the Ring Magazine pound for pound number one ranked boxer in the world on June 9, 2008 after Floyd Mayweather, Jr. announced his retirement from boxing.
