June 16, 2010 ![]()
LUXEMBOURG -- (U.S. ASIAN WIRE) – June 16, 2010 – Staying in touch with family and friends back home just got even more convenient, thanks to new ways to connect with Skype, the free software that lets individuals communicate with anyone, anywhere across the globe.
Skype is software that enables its millions of users around the world to make free video and voice calls, send instant messages and share files with other Skype users. Skype also lets users make low-cost calls to landlines and mobiles. Beginning today, Skype users can also customize their own subscription plans to call phone numbers in South Korea. To create a customized plan, a Skype user selects the amount of monthly calling time he or she wants to purchase for calls to these countries and identifies whether the calls will be placed to mobile phones, landlines or both. Plans can be purchased for 60 to unlimited monthly call minutes, and in one, three, or twelve month increments. Costs start as low as one cent per minute. Skype users can also opt to purchase calls to landlines and cell phones in South Korea for as little as $2.79/month, or unlimited* calls to landlines in South Korea and 39 other destinations globally for $13.99/month. In addition, they can purchase Skype credit and pay-per-minute for international calls. Calls between Skype users anywhere in the world, including South Korea, are free. “Skype is committed to making it easy, convenient and inexpensive to call South Korea, and the mobile application on Verizon phones along with Skype subscription plans do just that,” said Don Albert, GM of Skype, Americas. “Many Skype users in the U.S. have friends and family in South Korea, and they tell us they want to stay connected with them via Skype, whether from their home computer or from their mobile devices. We want to ensure that our users who communicate overseas do so easily.” In addition to Skype subscriptions plans, Skype mobile users can also benefit from features such as call forwarding, conference calling and Skype To Go, which lets users make low-cost calls from mobiles and landline phones. Users also get free voicemail with the unlimited subscriptions and certain subscriptions include up to 50% off an online number, which allows people who call that number to be charged the price of a domestic call, even when the recipient is located abroad. Skype subscriptions have no hidden fees, long-term contracts, or restrictions on when calls can be made. For those users who don’t want to buy a subscription, there is also a Pay as You Go option that allows you to buy a little Skype credit at a time to pay for calls.
