December 01, 2007

San Francisco—(U.S. ASIAN WIRE)— Life Quandaries? Love Qualms? Family Quarrels? Now, AsianWeek has launched the first weekly advice column for the Asian Pacific American lifestyle. “AskQ” will answer the big and little questions of our day-to-day lives from a uniquely Asian American perspective. The first edition of the column is available online at http://www.asianweek.com/2007/11/30/myspace-or-mydisgrace.
And because English speaking Asian Americans are the most active users of the internet (75% use regularly), AskQ will be answering questions daily on-line at AsianWeek.com The full column will appear weekly in the newspaper edition of AsianWeek, published every Friday. Readers may submit questions at AskQ@asianweek.com.
The advice columnist, “Q” is a 40-minus-something happily partnered urban male who was born in Vietnam, grew up in the southern United States, and has lived in thriving Asian American centers as well as desperate, isolated neighborhoods throughout the world. He is a manager by profession, and a writer by desire.
"Being Asian American can sometimes put you on the defensive so we either entertain multiple interpretations of what is happening or become obsessed with relationships where we can exert control,” said Q. “I'm hoping the column will help readers look at things objectively."
