Upcoming Sixth Annual Asian Heritage Awards to Benefit the Asian Heritage Society

SAN DIEGO (U.S. ASIAN WIRE) From immigrant to president, the elements of success beyond education are inspiration, connection and communication. These ingredients are the key building blocks of leadership.



The Asian Heritage Society is dedicated to building tomorrowÕs Asian American leaders through a sophisticated training program that employs those building blocks along with an array of multimedia tools. We call that our Òleadership leg.Ó



The second leg of the Asian Heritage Society is legacy. Through articles, photos, books, essays and a virtual museum and library, AHS has been building a legacy for our current and future generations of Asians and Asian Americans who have chosen Southern California as their home.



The Sixth Annual Asian Heritage Awards, to be held aboard the USS Midway in downtown San Diego the evening of July 25, benefits these and future programs, including the awards themselves, the most prestigious event honoring achievement in 15 categories ranging from education to science. In addition, this year, the event will honor the military with a category of its own and a special commemorative salute to all branches of the Armed Services.



The highlight of the awards ceremony will be presentation of the Special Recognition award to retired Major General Antonio Taguba, only the second Filipino American to attain the rank of general in the U.S. Army. General Taguba will also be honored as a Òprofile in courageÓ for being the first person to release information on prisoner abuse during the Iraq war, a topic still very much a part of the public debate.



Tickets to the event are $125 per person and $1,000 for a table of ten. ÒWe urge everyone to reserve a seat now,Ó said Rosalynn Carmen, president of Asia Media Inc. and Asia Media Los Angeles, who are producing the event with Silk Road Productions.
