The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders: Guide to Federal Agency Resources

In honor of the two year anniversary of the signing of the executive order, the Initiative is releasing this Guide to Federal Agency Resources, an easy-to-use navigational tool on federal funding, programs, and resources to provide a snapshot of federal resources available to assist organizations and individuals seeking to improve their quality of life of AAPIs. Within this guide, individuals and organizations can find such information as grant opportunities, loan programs to help start a business, federal resources for food and housing for low-income individuals, and health-care programs for veterans and their families.

**News Teleconference Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. ET** Cabinet Secretary Chris L to Co-Chair White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders

President Obama today designated Assistant to the President and Cabinet Secretary Christopher Lu to join Education Secretary Arne Duncan as co-chair of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The Initiative was created to help expand and improve AAPI access to federal services and protections. Lu replaces former Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, who had co-chaired the White House Initiative before becoming the U.S. Ambassador to China.

White House Report: American Jobs Act Supports Nearly 400,000 Education Jobs

The White House released a report, Teacher Jobs at Risk, outlining how the Administrations efforts including the American Jobs Act - will keep teachers in the classroom, strengthen our schools and improve the local economy in communities across the country. The American Jobs Act will support nearly 400,000 education jobs, preventing layoffs of educators and allowing thousands more to be hired or rehired. Obama Administration Offers Additional Mortgage Relief to Unemployed Homeowners

Today, the Obama Administration announced adjustments to Federal Housing Administration (FHA) requirements that will require servicers to extend the forbearance period for unemployed homeowners to 12 months. The Administration also intends to require servicers participating in the Making Home Affordable Program (MHA) to extend the minimum forbearance period to 12 months wherever possible under regulator and investor guidelines. These adjustments will provide much needed assistance for unemployed homeowners trying to stay in their homes while seeking re-employment.
