Asian-Americans Called To Donate Bone Marrow and Aid Ailing Two-Year Old Boy

January 15, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO—(U.S. ASIAN WIRE)—Harrison Leonardo is a two-year old boy who is fighting leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. A suitable donor will most likely have a similar ethnic background as Harrison, who is Filipino and Caucasian. There is also a chance a match can be found with someone who is of Asian descent.

You could be Harrison’s miracle match. Find out by attending the donor drive on Sunday, January 14, from 2-4 p.m. at St. Augustine Church, 3700 Callan Blvd., South San Francisco.

There are very few Asian and multi-racial people on the National Marrow Donor Program Registry, but the test for bone marrow compatibility is quick and painless. The highest need is Filipino, bi-racial, and Asian donors.

Visit www.aadp.org or call the Asian American Donor Program at (800) 593-6667.
